The DC Metro Amhara Association is a community-driven, non-profit organization established in response to the critical social injustices and human rights challenges confronting the Amhara people in Ethiopia. We are founded on the belief that a united diaspora can be a powerful force for positive change.
Our Purpose
We are dedicated to bringing together members of the Amhara diaspora throughout the Washington D.C. metropolitan area to build a strong and cohesive organization. Our primary goals are to:
Advocate for Justice: Actively raise awareness and conduct advocacy campaigns at local, national, and international levels to bring an end to the persecution, violence, and systematic discrimination against the Amhara people.
Build Community: Foster a supportive and connected network for Amhara people in the D.C. metro area, providing a space for collaboration, mutual support, and cultural connection.
Amplify Voices: Serve as a collective voice that clearly articulates the struggles and aspirations of the Amhara people to policymakers, international bodies, and the global community.
Preserve Our Heritage: Promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage, history, and language of the Amhara people for our children and future generations.
Join Us
We are a non-partisan organization fueled by the passion and dedication of our members. If you share our commitment to advocating for justice and strengthening our community, we invite you to join us. Together, we can work towards a future of peace, security, and dignity for all Amhara people.
